Sneak peek: Frosty Rose

We’re developing a series of fun projects for our launch early next year. Take a sneak peek at our upcoming painting party subject.

In this party we’ll walk you through step-by-step how to use a monochromatic (single color) underpainting to achieve more vibrant colors and a greater sense of depth than the flatter effect you get when using a single layer of mixed color. We’ll be building up our rose from several layers of transparent paint.

Have you never done this before? No painting experience necessary. We’ll lay out the stages and steps clearly, and our artist-instructor will show you all the techniques, from handling the brush to mixing the right colors and to adding the shadows and highlights, and give you personalized advice on how to make your painting look the way _you_ want it. At the end of the party, you’ll take home not just your new painting but a new skill as well.

How does it sound? What would you like to see the instructor do? What kind of projects would you like to do with us? Share your thoughts in the comments.
